So me and another member are trying to make a trade happen and he brought to my attention the differences in how my Schecter's serial number looks in comparison to others. Most Schecters look like the first picture and mine is the second. I don't think it makes any difference as not all Fender/Gibson serials look the same. I just want to assure the other member that there's nothing to worry about so I figured I'd make a topic to see what you all had to say.
The first two numerical digits of the serial number (found on the back of the headstock) will tell you what year the instrument was made. For example, for serial number 0236758, the '02' indicates that the guitar was made in 2002; for serial number W10052743, the '10' indicates that the guitar was made in 2010. Custom shop days, 1976–1983. In 1976, David Schecter opened Schecter Guitar Research, a repair shop in Van Nuys, California. The shop manufactured replacement guitar necks and bodies, complete pickup assemblies, bridges, pickguards, tuners, knobs, potentiometers, and other miscellaneous guitar parts.
